Softball Game Preview: Emmaus Hornets vs. Spring-Ford Rams

The Emmaus Hornets will take on the Spring-Ford Rams at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Emmaus 2.5, Spring-Ford 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Spring-Ford will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Emmaus extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Parkland. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Avery DeFanti was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hauver, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Emmaus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland only posted an OBP of .318.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring-Ford). They came out on top against Boyertown by a score of 9-6 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Emmaus' win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Spring-Ford, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Emmaus took their victory against Spring-Ford when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
