Softball Recap: Comstock Park Comes Up Short

Comstock Park extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Fruitport Trojans, falling 16-1. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Fruitport, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

For Fruitport's part, Brooklyn Russell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Russell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Madyson Prout was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kendall Lee was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

While Comstock Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
