Volleyball Recap: Elmwood Starts off Right with Win over Peoria Heights

Elmwood had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Peoria Heights Patriots by a score of 2-0. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Elmwood easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16.

Gianna Ramirex paced Elmwood's offense, picking up eight kills. Ramirex got some help from Payge Ryan and her 17 assists. Cheyenne Burge controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Peoria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Elmwood will square off against East Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peoria Heights, they will challenge Brimfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
