Baseball Game Preview: Parkway Panthers vs. New Knoxville Rangers

Parkway has gone a perfect 9-0 against New Knoxville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Rangers at 5:00 p.m. Parkway will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Parkway was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Wayne Trace 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Carson Kirby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Parkway let Kolt Harner and Jack Yoder run wild. Harner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Yoder went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those three hits gave Yoder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Beveridge, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Parkway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, New Knoxville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 17-2 to Celina.

New Knoxville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Parkway, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.

Parkway came out on top in a nail-biter against New Knoxville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
