Football Preview: King Mustangs vs. Miller Buccaneers
After each having a week off, the King Mustangs and the Miller Buccaneers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. King comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, King lost to Ray at home by a 35-17 margin. While the Mustangs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Texans 7-0.
King's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tatum Emerson, who threw for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Damon Smith, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one TD.
Even if they lost, King's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Anthony Perez, Hiram Olivares, and Luke Lawson, who each picked up one sack apiece.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Miller and Carroll had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Buccaneers took their contest last Friday with ease, bagging a 31-0 victory over the Tigers. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
King's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Miller, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.
