Recap: Jordan Panthers vs. Cabrillo Jaguars
The Jordan Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Cabrillo, posting a 47-7 victory on the road. Given Jordan's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Cabrillo is ranked 884th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan was led to victory by Jordan Washington and Jarret Nielsen. Washington gained 184 total yards and three touchdowns, while Nielsen threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nielsen is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last three games he's played. Jake Bautista did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.
Jordan's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Cabrillo and 3-6 Woodrow Wilson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.1% over those games). As for Cabrillo, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Jordan will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Beach Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Beach Poly is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Cabrillo, they will head out on the road to face off against Millikan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
