Shorecrest Prep suffers fifth straight loss at home

The Shorecrest Prep Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Clearwater Central Catholic, falling 59-15. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shorecrest Prep in their matchups with Clearwater Central Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.

Taylor Bedinghaus was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds for Clearwater Central Catholic. Bedinghaus has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Alexis Benoit was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.

Shorecrest Prep's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.2 points per game. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.

Shorecrest Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Braden River at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Braden River has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunedin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dunedin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 539th, while Clearwater Central Catholic is ranked 105th).
