Softball Recap: Haslett Vikings vs. Williamston Hornets
Haslett extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They came up short against the Williamston Hornets, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 on Tuesday.
As for Williamston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
For Williamston's part, Thea Fortin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Fortin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 14 contests.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Griffith, who fired off three triples, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4.
