Soccer Game Preview: Capitol vs. Episcopal

The Capitol Lions will challenge the Episcopal Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Capitol has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Episcopal will arrive with four straight victories.

It was a proper cat-fight when Capitol took on Central on Saturday. Capitol came up short against Central, falling 12-0. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly 12 goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Episcopal made sure to put some goals up on the board against Dunham on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 7-1 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Tigers are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Episcopal is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. As for Capitol, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Capitol suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Episcopal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Capitol avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
