Basketball Recap: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. McDonald Blue Devils
The Mineral Ridge Rams lost against the McDonald Blue Devils back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mineral Ridge lost to the Blue Devils at home by a decisive 68-52 margin. Mineral Ridge has not had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Moore, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Landon Bingham was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
McDonald's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Cappuzzello, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Zajack, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Mineral Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for McDonald, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mineral Ridge will face off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Waterloo's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Rams have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for McDonald, they will square off against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
