Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Staunton

Staunton won the last time they faced Riverheads and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Staunton Storm were the clear victor by a 68-47 margin over the Riverheads Gladiators. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Gladiators are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win was the seventh in a row for Staunton, bringing their record for this year to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Riverheads, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staunton will head out to face off against Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Staunton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Broadway likes a good challenge. As for Riverheads, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stuarts Draft at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stuarts Draft will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Riverheads surely won't give up without a fight.
