Baseball Recap: Lewis County Drops Season-High Score on Mt. Pleasant

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewis County). They put the hurt on the Mt. Pleasant Tigers with a sharp 18-4 victory on Monday. The Panthers have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Fletch Kelsey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kelsey was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Lewis County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lewis County let Brayden Whitlow and Maddox Tanner run wild. Whitlow scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Tanner scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Lewis County is 2-1 when Whitlow posts two or more runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Steele Moseley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lewis County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Lewis County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
