Softball Recap: Grant Extends Winning Streak to Six

Grant put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Big Rapids Cardinals with a sharp 11-3 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 on Wednesday.

Addison Herrmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Payton Shoemaker and Emma Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Shoemaker scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Thompson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Danica Gee, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Grant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Grant's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Big Rapids, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant will take on Belding at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Big Rapids, they will venture away from home to face off against Tri County Area at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
