Basketball Recap: Washburn Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dillon Mullins and Landry Coffey

On Thursday, the Washburn Pirates came up short against the Independent Athletic Ministries Ravens and fell 60-52. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Washburn's loss came despite strong showings from Landry Coffey and Dillon Mullins. Coffey went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds, while Mullins went 9 of 20 on his way to 21 points. That's the most rebounds Coffey has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dacyn Cornett, who posted six points.

Washburn's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Independent Athletic Ministries, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washburn will host Unaka at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Independent Athletic Ministries, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bethel Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th.
