Preview: Crest Chargers vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers
Crest is 8-2 against Kings Mountain since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Crest Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. Crest will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Crest gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by North Gaston at home to the tune of 82-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Crest has posted against North Gaston since January 19, 2021.
King Rhodes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyrik Pettis, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Kings Mountain posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over West Charlotte. Given Kings Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while West Charlotte is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crest pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.1 points. As for Kings Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Crest was able to grind out a solid win over Kings Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 58-50. Does Crest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kings Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
