Softball Recap: Raton Finds Home Field Redemption Against Pecos

There's no place like home for Raton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Pecos Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-4 win. Considering the Tigers have won five matchups by more than 14 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklyn Marquez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Tess Chatterly was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Raton pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Pecos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Raton beat Pecos by a score of 18-3 later that day.
