Baseball Preview: Buena Vista Bison vs. Elkhorn South Storm
The Buena Vista Bison will head out to take on the Elkhorn South Storm at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Buena Vista has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 28.
Things were looking good for Buena Vista after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 14-4 to Arlington.
Buena Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oswaldo Heredia-Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those doubles were Heredia-Reyes' first of the season. Victor Valencia was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn South faced Lincoln Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Storm fell just short of the Silver Hawks by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Storm have suffered since April 29, 2024.
Elkhorn South also got a good showing from Cal Cooper, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Cooper hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in May of 2024.
