Recap: Gibault Catholic Hawks vs. Steeleville Warriors
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Gibault Catholic Hawks had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 56-49 win over the Warriors. The win was familiar territory for Gibault Catholic who now have four in a row.
It was another big night for Briana Baldridge, who scored 24 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Myah Ticer was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamryn Patterson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Patterson grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Wedemeyer, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Gibault Catholic pushed their record up to 11-18 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Steeleville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-16.
Gibault Catholic will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Woodlawn at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Hopefully Woodlawn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday. Steeleville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
