Baseball Game Preview: Piqua Indians vs. Sidney Yellowjackets

For the first time this season, Piqua will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Sidney Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Piqua will be strutting in after a victory while Sidney will be coming in after a loss.

Piqua is headed out to face Sidney after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Piqua skirted past Wayne 4-3.

Piqua got a great performance from Hunter Steinke as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Steinke has posted since back in March of 2024.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Sidney and Tecumseh, and Tecumseh kept the tradition alive. Sidney took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tecumseh on Saturday.

Sidney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Piqua took their win against Sidney when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3. Will Piqua repeat their success, or does Sidney has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
