Saturday, 11 a.m. Central timeWhy it's big: This showdown of crosstown rivals will earn the winner a 10-0 regular season record and the outright championship of District 19-6A.
This will be the 12th meeting between the teams since 2004. Katy has completely dominated the series so far, winning 10 of 11 times by an average score of 37-8.
A win Saturday morning would assure Katy its 14th-consecutive season with at least 10 wins. Conversely, Cinco Ranch is shooting for its first 10-win season since 2010.
Names to watch: A loaded roster with at least seven players holding offers from FBS colleges has helped Katy overwhelm opponents by an average score of 49-2 this season. Three Tigers defenders have made commitments, including Northwestern-bound linebacker
Paddy Fisher and defensive backs
Travis Whillock (Northwestern) and
Collin Wilder (Houston).
Cinco Ranch dual-threat quarterback
Russell Morrison is averaging 169 passing yards and 69 rushing yards per game. The 6-foot, 196-pound senior has accounted for a team-high 23 touchdowns.
