Soccer Game Preview: Rivera vs. Porter

Rivera hasn't had much luck against Porter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rivera Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Porter Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rivera took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Donna get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Porter came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Chiefs 4-1. That's two games straight that the Cowboys have won by exactly three goals.

Porter pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those eight games. As for Rivera, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Rivera came up short against Porter in their previous meeting back in January, falling 2-0. Can Rivera avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
