It was a good run, but Orono unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellsworth Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Riots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-58 back in December of 2024.

Orono's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Ellsworth, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orono has already played their next contest (against Foxcroft Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ellsworth will face off against Bucksport at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ellsworth is facing Bucksport at the right time seeing as Bucksport is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
