Recap: Sparta Spartans vs. Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Red Raiders
The Sparta Spartans pushed their score all the way to 68 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln 72-68. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sparta in their matchups with Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln: they've now lost three in a row.
Loss or not, Sparta got some senior leadership from John Rice who scored 19 points along with 4 steals and Thomas Laufenberg who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. The match was Laufenberg's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zach Treu, who scored 6 points.
Sparta's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will challenge Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against Marshfield at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
