Baseball Recap: Petaluma Takes a Loss

Petaluma couldn't beat Saint Francis on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Trojans fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 5-4.

Dominic Fontana and Arlo Pendleton did some serious damage despite the final result: Fontana went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Pendleton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Petaluma's loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Saint Francis, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Petaluma and Saint Francis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 39th) will meet American Canyon (ranked 510th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Saint Francis will challenge Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 302). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2, the Fightin' Irish 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
