Baseball Recap: Lakeland Preparatory Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Lakeland Preparatory was the 8-7 winner over White Station when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakeland Preparatory Lions took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Station Spartans on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly five runs.

Noah Lindsey and Wyatt Helton did some serious damage despite the final result: Lindsey scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Helton scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lakeland Preparatory's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for White Station, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland Preparatory will welcome Gibson County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibson County will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lakeland Preparatory surely won't give up without a fight. As for White Station, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Southaven at 12:30 p.m.
