Baseball Game Preview: Cane Bay Cobras vs. Lucy Beckham Bengals

For the second straight game, Cane Bay will face off against Lucy Beckham. The Cobras are taking a road trip to face off against the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Cane Bay is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Lucy Beckham on Wednesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bengals.

For Lucy Beckham's part, they got a great performance from Sam Dielmann as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Dielmann also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bengals are 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Riles Morris was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Hank Aeppli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lucy Beckham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lucy Beckham pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cane Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
