Football Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Deer Park Deer

The Dickinson Gators are taking a road trip to face off against the Deer Park Deer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dickinson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Deer Park likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Dickinson took their game with ease, bagging a 51-17 victory over Clear Falls. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dickinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavin Gomez, who rushed for 124 yards and one score. Those 124 rushing yards gave Gomez a new career-high. Lorenzo Aguirre was another key passer, throwing for 216 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Deer Park's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 14-13 to Clear Springs. The contest marked the Deer's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dickinson's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 53.4 points this season. As for Deer Park, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Dickinson against Deer Park when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-13 win. In that matchup, the Gators amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
