Port Chester is a perfect 4-0 against Ramapo since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Rams will welcome the Gryphons at 1:30 p.m. Port Chester hasn't scored more than 13 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
On Saturday, Port Chester came up short against Tappan Zee and fell 21-12.
Meanwhile, while Ramapo put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Ossining. The Gryphons blew past the Pride, posting a 41-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Gryphons just coasted through the last quarter.
Ramapo found their leader in sophomore Nahum Pierre, who rushed for 201 yards and two TDs on only eight carries. Pierre really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run. Another player making a difference was Davonte Brown, who threw for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ramapo proved: they limited Ossining to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Brown stood above the rest. He threw for 98 yards and two TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Ramapo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 18.
Ramapo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hansley Duroi and Brown. Duroi has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played.
Port Chester's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Ramapo, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Port Chester skirted past Ramapo 26-24 in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Gryphons' Fabrice Adelson, who rushed for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 75 yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for the Rams to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
