Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Red Wolves vs. Titusville Terriers

Two dominant guards in Janae Mcfall and Kennedie Sanders are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Edgewood Red Wolves will take on the Titusville Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Titusville is hoping to do what West Shore couldn't on Wednesday: put an end to Edgewood's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Edgewood breezed by West Shore to the tune of 65-29. Given the Red Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Wildcats are ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Titusville was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Astronaut 54-9. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-2.

Edgewood better focus on containing Sanders and Jamaria Stephens as the pair were huge in Titusville's win. Sanders went 12 of 29 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals, while Stephens almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Sanders a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Braniyah Brown, who posted five points and nine rebounds.

Edgewood's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points per game. As for Titusville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Edgewood took their win against Titusville when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 48-26. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sanders, who put up ten points and five steals.
