Softball Game Preview: Sports Leadership & Management Bulls vs. Churchill County Greenwave

The Sports Leadership & Management Bulls will challenge the Churchill County Greenwave at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sports Leadership & Management's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Churchill County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Sports Leadership & Management heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They came up short against Boulder City, falling 8-0.

Sports Leadership & Management saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carmen Castro, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Churchill County faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Greenwave had just enough and edged out the Vaqueros 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Greenwave have posted against the Vaqueros since March 23, 2024.

Vernita Fillmore made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sutton Yost was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Churchill County pushed their record up to 21-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 23-6.
