Football Game Preview: Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets vs. Northside Eagles + Official Tickets

Thomas County Central has gone a perfect 3-0 against Northside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thomas County Central has seven straight victories, Northside has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Thomas County Central's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Veterans 48-0. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won six games by more than 47 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Christian Lawrence produced another solid performance rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 114 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Johnson, who threw for 193 yards and two TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thomas County Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 313 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Northside's offense. They took a blow against Houston County last Friday, falling 48-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Bears are ranked 19th).

Northside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Thomas County Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Thomas County Central against Northside in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 62-0 victory. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
