            Baseball Recap: Westlake Wildcats vs. Lakeland Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Walter Panas, Westlake was happy to have turned things around  on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lakeland Hornets  a   13-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten  runs or more this season.
 Mikey Sica was a  major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run over four innings pitched. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Westlake is 2-1 when he allows at  most  three  earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Sica was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with three  RBI and one  triple. That  triple was  his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Kieran Murray and  Marcus Jackette did most of the damage at the plate:  Murray  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI, while  Jackette  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI, one  stolen base,  and one  run. Westlake is undefeated when  Murray posts two or  more  runs, but 1-4 otherwise.  Frank Vessa was another key player,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs and one  double.

 Westlake  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. That's the most  hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The  win  got Westlake back to even at 4-4. As for Lakeland, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record  this season.
 Westlake is taking a road trip to  challenge Hendrick Hudson  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Lakeland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Croton-Harmon  at 5:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.6  runs per game this season.
