Basketball Recap: Christian Heritage Academy Comes Up Short

Christian Heritage Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Temple Christian Crusaders, falling 63-34. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Crusaders are ranked 70th).

When it comes to explaining why Christian Heritage Academy lost, don't look at Luke Mason. Despite the final result, he went 11 for 17 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds.

Temple Christian was led to victory by Carter Cash and Silas Walker. Cash went 12 of 20 on his way to 26 points, while Walker went 6 of 13 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Cash a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Reno, who posted seven points.

Christian Heritage Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Temple Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Christian Heritage Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-48 defeat against Boys' Home on the 14th. Temple Christian will take on United Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
