Football Game Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Gregory-Portland Wildcats

The Miller Buccaneers will square off against the Gregory-Portland Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Miller is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing King: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Buccaneers blew the Mustangs out of the water with a 70-18 final score. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Miller didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Izaiah Gidrey and Charles Perry. Jayden Vela was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, while Gregory-Portland put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Carroll. The Wildcats blew past the Tigers 60-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Tigers are ranked 645th).

Miller's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Gregory-Portland, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Miller against Gregory-Portland when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-35 victory. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
