Basketball Recap: Amazin Dixon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oak City Prep over New Life Christian Academy

Oak City Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The contest between them and the New Life Christian Academy Monarchs didn't end well, with the Oak City Prep Bears falling 91-73. The Bears were down 77-48 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Oak City Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amazin Dixon, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points and eight assists. The match was Dixon's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rullo, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and six boards.

New Life Christian Academy was led to victory by Kyle Baldwin and Asany Richmond. Baldwin went 14 for 21 on his way to 32 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Richmond almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Baldwin a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Noah Melvin, who posted 14 points.

Oak City Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for New Life Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak City Prep will head out to square off against Fayetteville Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Life Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Star Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
