Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Regional Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Bergen Catholic

On Friday, St. Joseph Regional faced Bergen Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Joseph Regional Green Knights fell just short of the Bergen Catholic Crusaders by a score of 53-50. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent loss being a 89-55 defeat last Tuesday.

Despite the loss, St. Joseph Regional still got an impressive performance from Jahmir Joseph, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 20 points. Joseph continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Pacciarelli, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

With the defeat, St. Joseph Regional broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points over those games. As for Bergen Catholic, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

St. Joseph Regional didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-52 victory against Don Bosco Prep on the 24th.
