Basketball Recap: Westside Continues Home Dominance on Friday

WestSide hadn't done well against Chapmanville Regional recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The WestSide Renegades came out on top against the Chapmanville Regional Tigers by a score of 63-52. This was a revenge game for the Renegades: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 70-64 defeat.

WestSide's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kadien Vance led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Vance's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Coltin Lester, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points and three steals.

WestSide's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games. As for Chapmanville Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

The future could be bright for both WestSide and Chapmanville Regional: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. WestSide will try to hand Mingo Central their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chapmanville Regional will look to extend Huntington Expression Prep's five-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
