Recap: Sharpstown Apollos vs. Sterling Raiders
The Sharpstown Apollos suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 82-32 defeat at the hands of Sterling. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sharpstown in their matchups with Sterling: they've now lost six in a row.
Sharpstown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jhase Eaton, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Edwin Lobo, who scored 11 points.
Sterling's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darnell Williams, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Joshua Augustine was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Sharpstown has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. As for Sterling, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharpstown will take on Galena Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sterling, they will be playing at home against Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Austin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1127th, while Sterling is ranked 506th).
