Softball Recap: Randolph County Gets the Win

Randolph County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Oak Grove 3-1.

Bryer Thompson and Gracie Huckeba did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Huckeba went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Randolph County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Grove, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-14 record.

Looking ahead, Randolph County will challenge Victory Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oak Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellborn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
