Basketball Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Firebaugh Falcons

The Paramount Pirates will head out to take on the Firebaugh Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paramount has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

Paramount is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Bellflower on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Paramount was dealt a 95-47 loss at the hands of Bellflower. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1092nd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 347th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Firebaugh). They strolled past Compton with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 100-82. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

The win got Firebaugh back to even at 3-3. As for Paramount, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Paramount was taken down by Firebaugh 73-24 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Paramount avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
