Soccer Game Preview: Wakefield vs. Herndon

Wakefield hasn't had much luck against Herndon recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will take on the Hornets at 9:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wakefield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Warriors who were credited with the win. Wakefield got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Gar-Field's one. The victory was all the more spectacular given Wakefield's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Gar-Field are ranked tenth).

Wakefield will be up against a hot Herndon squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Hornets who were credited with the win on Friday. Herndon got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Cosby's four.

Herndon's victory bumped their record up to 15-5-1. As for Wakefield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5-3.

Wakefield couldn't quite get it done against Herndon when the teams last played last Thursday as they fell 2-0. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
