Baseball Recap: Villa Park Victorious

Villa Park won the last time they faced Bishop Amat and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lancers, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since February 27th.

Jack McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Villa Park is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Justin Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Rafael Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Villa Park hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
