Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is East Dubuque's Third in Last Four Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Durand, East Dubuque was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats by a score of 4-1. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Curin Oberman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Liliana Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Welp, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

East Dubuque has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, River Ridge/Scales Mound is taking a road trip to take on Milledgeville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Missiles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. East Dubuque will be paying especially close attention to River Ridge/Scales Mound's game: after River Ridge/Scales Mound faces off against Milledgeville, they'll take on East Dubuque again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
