Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones vs. O'Fallon Panthers

The Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones will head out to face off against the O'Fallon Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Sacred Heart-Griffin will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Sacred Heart-Griffin came out on top against Springfield on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Cyclones had just enough and edged out the Senators 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cyclones have posted since April 17th.

Meanwhile, O'Fallon faced Triad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Knights by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since March 28, 2024.

Connor Blue was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Brayden Robertson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

O'Fallon's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.

Sacred Heart-Griffin couldn't quite finish off O'Fallon when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Cyclones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
