Basketball Recap: Hickory Takes a Loss

Hickory lost against North Lincoln back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hickory Red Tornadoes took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Lincoln Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Red Tornadoes still had to take the loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ally Smith, who went 11 for 14 en route to 30 points. Smith's evening made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Hailey Hagler was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Hickory and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for North Lincoln, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Hickory didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-34 loss against Alexander Central on the 30th. As for North Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 73-58 victory against North Iredell on the 31st.
