Softball Recap: Herrin Gets the Win

Herrin's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Goreville Blackcats by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brooke Hudgens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Madison Dickerson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Herrin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Herrin's win bumped their record up to 7-22. As for Goreville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

Coming up, Herrin will take on Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
