Soccer Game Preview: Cibola vs. San Luis

Cibola hasn't had much luck against San Luis recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cibola Raiders will face off against the San Luis Sidewinders at 6:00 p.m.

Cibola is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost 5-0 to Liberty. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Lions are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, San Luis came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Hawks as they made off with an 8-1 victory. With the Sidewinders ahead 3-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Their offense was hitting Gila Ridge from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Luis Garcia led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Cibola's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for San Luis, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Cibola came up short against San Luis when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Cibola avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
