Basketball Recap: Grace Prep Falls to St. Michael the Archangel in First Game of Season

Grace Prep had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a hard 33-17 fall against the St. Michael the Archangel Warriors.

It was another big night for Janaye Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards for St. Michael the Archangel. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least a third of St. Michael the Archangel's points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Love-Villatoro, who posted 12 points and three steals.

The victory snapped St. Michael the Archangel's losing streak at nine games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-8 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grace Prep will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Michael the Archangel at 5:30 p.m. on February 14th. St. Michael the Archangel has already played their next matchup (against Guardian Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
