Basketball Recap: Heaven Pyfrom's Big Game Can't Quite Lead King over Plant City

King played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 55-35 to the Plant City Raiders. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Heaven Pyfrom, who posted 15 points and three steals. That was a full 42.9% of King's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Mariah Pinkney was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Plant City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Harmoney Ford out in front who scored eight points in addition to 15 boards and three steals. Ford is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexi Alvarez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

King's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Plant City, their record now sits at 6-12.

King will square off against Leto at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. King is facing Leto at the right time seeing as Leto is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Plant City, they will face off against Blake at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
