Clearfield hasn't had much luck against Box Elder recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Bees at 3:30 p.m. Clearfield will be strutting in after a victory while Box Elder will be coming in after a defeat.
Clearfield will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Syracuse on Friday. The Falcons skirted past the Titans 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 12th.
Teaghan McNabb looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
At the plate, Clearfield got a massive performance out of Brynn Nicholls, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Bingham, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Box Elder faced Riverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bees fell 8-3 to the Silverwolves.
Lucy Griffin and Maclee WIllard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Griffin went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while WIllard went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Clearfield, their record now sits at 13-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Clearfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Box Elder struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clearfield suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Box Elder in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
